Hundreds of agitators for the creation of Biafra Republic, yesterday, besieged an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Wuse Zone 2, demanding the unconditional release of the self-declared leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.
The placard carrying protesters, who wore T-shirts and caps with inscriptions like “Biafra Now or Never”, “Buhari Release Kanu For Us”, “On Biafra We Stand”, yesterday, sang and danced outside the court premises, while hearing was going on in the criminal case that was entered against Kanu by the federal government.

Naira devalues as CBN Cuts Dollar Supply

 

The naira fell to 242 against the United States dollar at the parallel market on Monday after the Central Bank of Nigeria cut dollar supply to Bureaux de Change operators in a bid to conserve the external reserves.

Four Ogun bank robbers arrested, admit stealing N28m

 

Four suspected members of the armed robbery gang which unleashed terror on commercial banks in the Agbara area of Ogun State last Thursday have confessed to carting away N28m during the operation.

Kogi election: Police uncover plans to import thugs, arms

The police on Friday alerted the public to an intelligence report that some people were trying to smuggle arms and thugs into Kogi State ahead of the governorship election to hold today.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, in charge of Operations, Mr. Sotonye Wakama, who disclosed this, said for that reason, travellers going into the state should expect to be searched thoroughly.

Wakama also announced restriction of movements in the state from 6.30am on Saturday till after the election.

ARMED robbers numbering about 40 stormed four commercial banks in the Agbara area of Ogun State on Thursday killing a nursing mother and two policemen including a corporal identified as Kadiri Aliyu.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the robbers stormed Bank Road, Agbara Estate, around 8.30am and reportedly carted away millions of naira from Zenith Bank.

Sambo Dasuki, retd, whose arrest was ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari some days ago, over allegations of fictitious award of arms supply contracts, yesterday, countered the Federal Government. Rivers elders reject Biafra

 

The Rivers Elders and Leaders Council (RELEC) Chairman Chief Albert Horsfall and Secretary Lawrence Ibiayenie, yesterday warned that Port Harcourt should not be turned to a battle ground by pro-Biafran agitators.
The elders described the protests by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as uncalled for. Rivers people are not Biafrans, they insisted.
According to them, it is wrong to transport Igbo youths in trailers and buses from the five states in the Southeast zone, to protest in Port Harcourt, thereby halting commercial activities, destroy property and cause untold hardship for motorists, commuters and pedestrians.

More than 150 people have been killed in a series of coordinated terror attacks in the heart of Paris which have paralysed the French capital.

As many as 118 people alone were massacred at a concert in the Bataclan theatre following a hostage situation last night that concluded in a suicide attack while another 11 were shot down at a Cambodian restaurant. 

Early reports suggest a further 200 people are being treated for injuries, with 80 of them seriously hurt.
