Skyscraper goes up in flames in London, trapping hundreds

A high-rise apartment building in central London went up in flames early Wednesday morning, leaving the building on the verge of collapse, with hundreds of residents believed to be trapped inside.

Grenfell Tower, located in North Kensington, is a 27-story building home to some 120 families.

More than 200 firefighters and 40 fire engines have been deployed to battle the blaze and attempt to rescue those trapped in the building. Dozens of ambulances and emergency medical teams have also been dispatched to the scene.

PDP factions throws insults, as Supreme Court hears appeal today

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said the Supreme Court should not hear an appeal filed by the sacked National Caretaker Committee of the party led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

According to source, the appeal is slated to take place before the Supreme Court on Monday (today), the Sheriff-leadership of the party has asked the apex court to strike out the appeal, marked SC/133/2017.

The Makarfi-faction filed the appeal on February 27, 2017 against the February 17, 2017 judgment of the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal which sacked their caretaker committee.

Nigerian man vows to infect as many girls as possible with HIV before he dies

A Nigerian male brags on twitter on how he infected 17 girls with HIV after having unprotected sex with them. The guy simply identified as@wiztalisman, announced that he has been infected with the deadly virus,HIV back in February 2017.

He vowed to infect as many girls as possible before he dies with the virus.

Fast forward to today, he shared a photo of one of his victims, Flora who was without any form of clothing. While he was cautioned on his ungodly act, he said,’Bro I can’t die alone, I was infected by a girl, I thought she got my back’.

13-year-old boy dies of suspected heroin overdose

 

A 13-year-old boy from Ohio United States has died of a suspected heroin overdose, and his father has been jailed in a previous drug-related case, according to authorities.

Nathan Wylie’s father and a co-worker frantically carried the unconscious boy on March 28 from a mechanic’s lot to a fire station next door, CBS Dayton affiliate WHIO reports. They indicated that Nathan got into his father’s drugs.

Meningitis Outbreak: Death Toll Rises To 336

The death toll from the Cerebro Spinal Meningitis, CSM, outbreak across several states has increased to 336, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has said.

Several states, mainly in northern Nigeria, have been affected by the disease as officials struggle to secure enough vaccines to prevent it.

A lecturer in the English Department, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, Isiaq Yusuf, popularly called I.G. Yusuf, has become an object of ridicule after he was caught naked in his student’s apartment.

The fiancé of the 400-level student and his friend, who caught Yusuf while he was allegedly prepared to have sex with her, made him to mop the living room, wash the toilet, and took his nude pictures, which had gone viral.


The lecturer had reportedly insisted on sleeping with the student so she could pass ENG 201 titled, “History of English Language in Nigeria”.

Army jails personnel for beating up woman

THE 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has sentenced a soldier, Private Suleiman Olamilekan, to 28 days’ imprisonment with hard labour for beating up one Miss Ebere Ohakwe.

The army said Olamilekan was tried and found guilty of maltreating Ohakwe at the Omagwa checkpoint along Port Harcourt-Onitsha Road on January 30, 2017.

Biafra: 16 members of European parliament ask EU to challenge Buhari, DSS

 

Some members of the European parliament (MEP) have risen in support of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

The MEPs – 16 in number – in a joint letter have asked the European Union High Commission to take action on human rights abuses against members of the IPOB.

The letter addressed to the High Representative and vice president of the EU high commission Federica Mogherini said the unlawful detention of Kanu and the violence against IPOB members by Nigerian government must be looked into.

The letter which was dated Monday, December 19, said Kanu has been illegally imprisoned since October 14, 2015, despite being acquitted of all charges brought against him by the Department of State Services.

Report making the rounds has it that Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted container of “READY TO EAT FOODS” which include Egusi Soup, Jollof Rice, Ogbono, Yam Porridge imported from India.
