Northern groups’ communique on issues affecting region
It was convened to assess the security, economic and political circumstances of the North and Northern communities in other parts of Nigeria.
Specifically, it reviewed the worrying state of insecurity “under which virtually all Northerners live”.
It also deliberated the “worsening economic fortunes” of the vast majority of Northerners and the options that are available to the North as it prepares for the next general elections.

60 roads completed in Abia-Ikpeazu
Abia Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, said his administration had constructed 60 roads across the state since inauguration in 2015.
Ikpeazu stated this at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja, and said that the roads comprised rural, intra-state and inter-state routes.

Last Northern male white rhino dies in Kenya

The world's last surviving male northern white rhino has died after months of poor health, his carers say.
Sudan, who was 45, lived at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. He was put to sleep on Monday after age-related complications worsened significantly.
His death leaves only two females - his daughter and granddaughter - of the subspecies alive in the world.

Chief Ivwurie alleged that he is being threatened for his constant campaigns against armed Fulani herdsmen in his constituency.

The Lagos state police command has nabbed a 45-year-old suspected ritualist with a human skull and he revealed that he sells them for N1million each.
The suspect, Identified as Lucien Tusume, was arrested at Iraye village in Sagamu area of Ogun State, following intelligence report.
Explaining the circumstance that led to Tusume’s arrest, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said some policemen, who disguised as buyers, contacted the suspect for a human skull.
Skyscraper goes up in flames in London, trapping hundreds
A high-rise apartment building in central London went up in flames early Wednesday morning, leaving the building on the verge of collapse, with hundreds of residents believed to be trapped inside.
Grenfell Tower, located in North Kensington, is a 27-story building home to some 120 families.
More than 200 firefighters and 40 fire engines have been deployed to battle the blaze and attempt to rescue those trapped in the building. Dozens of ambulances and emergency medical teams have also been dispatched to the scene.
