7 killed in Lagos-Ibadan auto crash

Seven people were on Sunday killed in a multiple auto crash which occurred along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
About 23 others sustained various degrees of injuries from the crash.
The accident, which occurred in Mowe/Ibafo axis of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, involved a trailer with registration number AGL 632 XH, a Toyota Camry car
marked KEY 857 DN, and two Mazda buses with registration numbers AB 367 LAF and XC 909 FFA.
A witness said the trailer was conveying wooden materials to Lagos when one of its tyres burst on the road. The driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle. The trailer’s load fell on the Mazda bus killing six of the occupants. A motor boy on the trailer also reportedly fell from the vehicle and died.
Some minutes after the crash, officials of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Enforcement, TRACE, and Federal Road Safety Corps raced to the scene to control the situation.
The TRACE head of operations in Mowe, Ibafo, Ojerinde Kabeer, confirmed the incident. He said the dead have been moved to a morgue in Sagamu,while the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
