Clark asks Jonathan to sack EFCC chairman

Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde if found incapable to prosecute corrupt public office holders.

Clark, while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Friday, therefore, called on President Jonathan to reorganise the anti-graft agency for effective discharge of its mandate to investigate and prosecute corrupt Nigerians.
“If the man at the head of affairs of the commission is found not to be doing well in the process of reorganisation, he should be fired,” he said.
According to him, EFCC has lost its focus of prosecuting corrupt officials, but instead going after those involved in cyber and petty crimes.
“Had the agencies charged with fighting corruption been up and doing, no one will accuse President Jonathan of not doing enough to fight corruption. In all advanced democracies, anti-graft agencies would swing into action following the kind of revelations and allegations against most people walking free on our streets,” he also said.
