The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone, 10, Sokoto, Mr Bala Hassan and the Commissioner of Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Salisu Fagge, presided over the event.

The candidates of the political parties, who signed the accord, were Peoples Democratic Party, Dynamic Party, Independent Democrat, Peoples Party of Nigeria, United Progressive Party, Accord, African Democratic Congress, KOWA, Unity Party of Nigeria, United Democratic Party, New Nigerian Peoples Party, Citizens Popular Party and Progressive Peoples Alliance.

Hassan warned that the police would not hesitate to deal with any political party that tramples on the accord.

“You should avoid all acts capable of endangering the political stability of the state and the country in general.

“You should also conduct issues-based campaigns, abide by the rules of the game, uphold the law and refrain from all acts that can inflame sentiments,” Hassan further warned.

In his remarks, Fagge also promised that the police would provide a level-playing ground for all the political parties to conduct their activities.

“We will ensure that no any political party, its candidates or supporters violate the accord.

“The police will also ensure that the accord works to the latter before, during and after the general elections,” the Commissioner of Police assured.

The governorship candidate of the PDP, Sen. Abdallah Wali, attended the event, while his APC counterpart, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, was represented by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sidi Aliyu.
