Insurgency: Oyo youths hail troops’ gallantry

Nigerian Army

Youths on Friday trooped to the streets of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in solidarity with the success being recorded by the military in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the North.
The youths, under the aegis of i-support, said the soldiers deserved commendation and support of all Nigerians.
The solidarity rally, which took off from Mokola roundabout, matched towards Mokola military barracks with placard bearing phrases in support of the military.
Convener of the rally, Mr. Olutunde Caxton-Martins, told our correspondent that the group organised the rally in order to appreciate the sacrifice the soldiers were making in the troubled part of the country.
He said, “This is a group of young entrepreneurs, creative and innovative people in Oyo State. We have come in at this time when many people are talking about politics and what they can gain from the next political dispensation, to celebrate our soldiers who are laying down their lives daily for the peace and unity of this country.
“Some of them have lost their lives leaving their family behind. We want to let them know that we appreciate their sacrifice.”
