Synagogue: Building foundation viable, says witness

A witness from the Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN), Engineer Victor Oyenuga, on Friday told the Lagos State Coroners Court sitting in Ikeja, that the foundation of the collapsed Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) owned guesthouse, is very thick.
The witness also revealed while testifying before the court presided over by Chief Magistrate, Oyetade Komolafe, that the quality of materials used on the failed building were good and capable of standing the test of time.
While being cross-examined by SCOAN’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, Oyenuga acknowledged that structural engineers basically work on assumptions.
He said: “I never visited the site of the collapsed guesthouse. But I can confirm to the court that the report submitted by the team that investigated the possible cause of the collapse guest house is accurate and not misinforming.”
However, the witness admitted that the report which the team had tendered before the Coroners Court, was not signed by any member of the team that took part in the investigation.
