VP Sambo’s wife urges Kano women to vote for Jonathan on March 28

The wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Amina Sambo, has called on women in Kano State to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan on March 28. She made the call on Wednesday at a Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, women rally in Kano. Sambo also called on women in the state to come out en masses to elect other PDP candidates during the polls.
“You need to come out during the exercise to re-elect Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo,” she said. She added that the present administration under the leadership of Jonathan has empowered women and youths to be self-reliant through YOU WIN and SURE-P Programmes. “The administration has trained nurses to reduce cases of maternal and child mortality.“The country has achieved a lot, including the development of infrastructure and rehabilitation of rail line from Kano to Lagos. “If re-elected, President Jonathan will continue to provide Nigerians with more infrastructure,” she said. Sambo, who called on parents, particularly mothers, to caution their children against any form of election violence, prayed for a peaceful election. Also speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Marina, commended the women for showing their support to PDP. She said the Federal Government had done a lot to women, especially in the area of empowerment. “So, I am using this opportunity to call on women to come out en mass to pay back,” she said.
