Isoko HOSTCOM, ex-militants, issue seven-day ultimatum to Jonathan

UGHELLI—ISOKO chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria, HOSTCOM and some ex-militants from the area in Delta State, have issued a seven-day ultimatum to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and the Federal Government to address what they termed the marginalization of Isoko people in pipeline surveillance contracts, else they would be forced to take action against oil and gas servicing companies in their area.

The groups, in a statement by Mr. Morrister Idibra, chairman, HOSTCOM, Isoko chapter, Julius Omoyibo, ex-militant leader and 22 others, threatened to unleash their grievances on oil companies in their area on the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum.

On the need for the decentralization of pipeline surveillance contracts, the groups called on government to decentralize the contract to members of the host communities in the Niger Delta region.
The groups warned that their calmness should not be taken for granted, noting that contract should not be used to settle political jobbers, adding that there was need for the contract to cut across all tribes in the region rather than restricting it to the Ijaws.
