The Supersand Eagles of Nigeria finished third, at the 2015 African Beach Championship, after they hammered Ivory Coast 9-1. Warri Wolves’ striker, Abu Azeez, scored a hat-trick, while Emeka Ogbonna added to his personal tally with another brace. The other goals were scored by Bartholomew Ibenegbu, Captain Isiaka Olawale and Losaka Junior.
Both teams had earlier met during the group stages and Nigeria needed overtime to edge a 7-6 win over the Ivorians at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex.
The Supersand Eagles however failed to qualify for this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal, as only the top two teams will represent Africa.
