A call has been made to the government to pay more attention to the entertainment and sports industries. This passionate appeal was made by leader of the Oodua Peoples' Congress (OPC), Chief Gani Adams.
He noted that the role of the two industries in boosting tourism can never be sideline.
He said government can tap into the edge of popularity actors to boost the economy of the state. According to him, actors are more popular than most state governors.
(Nollywood) is a means of communication. It is a means of reinstating people that are involved in social vices in the society and it is a means of disseminating beyond your own expression as a practitioner even beyond insurgency in Nigeria. It’s an image maker to our bad image. The movie industry can help change the bad orientation or bad impression that people have about us in Nigeria, he added.
