The All Progressives Congress (APC) will pore through Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list before passing same to the National Assembly for ratification, a source privy to the inner workings of the party said.
The party hierarchy, the source said, intends to avoid the mistakes of the beleaguered Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) whose decision making processes weren’t guided by the party’s manifesto or by the constitution, in most cases.
The APC intends to do things differently by subjecting office holders to the party’s manifesto at all tiers of governance.
“Under the APC, you won’t have a situation where the individual is greater than the party and operates at cross purposes from the party’s ideals. We’ll ensure that all of Buhari’s ministerial picks understand that we have a social contract with the Nigerian people which we intend to fulfill to the last word. When we roll up our sleeves to get to work, we want to do so certain that everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet”, said the source.
At the moment, wide level consultations and several brain-storming sessions are going on within the APC on ministerial choices. The ministers who emerge from this process would be made public just before the swearing in ceremony on May 29.
