Transgender woman fears for her life as she is sent to a male prison

A 26-year old Tara Hudson was born a man but she underwent surgery in her early youth to transit to a woman and now it has backfired.

She has been sent to an all male prison – a prison holding around 600 young adult and adult men, after she admitted to assaulting someone at a bar on Boxing Day 2014. She changed her plea to guilty in September and her mum was expecting her to be put on an electronic tag and made to undergo an alcohol awareness course.
At worst she thought she would be sent to an all-women prison by the magistrates in Bath, Somerset.
But instead they ruled that Tara should serve her sentence inside a Category-B male prison (HMP Bristol) because her passport says she is still a man.
