We won’t abandon Saraki –PDP

THE Peoples Democratic Party has said that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, is fit for the office he is occupying; hence it is not considering any candidate to replace him.
The PDP denied reports that it was already looking for a senator from the opposition party to replace Saraki, who is currently under pressure to resign from office following his trial for false asset declaration by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Nigeria’s two main labour unions–Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress – on Saturday demanded Saraki’s resignation on moral grounds consequent upon his trial at the CCT.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday entered the dock at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja where he was arraigned for false assets declaration charges.
Saraki arrived at the tribunal at 9.20am in company with 50 senators, beating by 40 minutes the 10am deadline the judge had set for the Inspector General of Police to provide the Senate president.

The Senate President’s verified Twitter biography previously read, in part, “Member of the APC.”
But checks after Nigerians started reacting to the development shows that the biography now simply reads, “Senate President and Chairman of the 8th National Assembly. Committed to Transparency and Accountability.”

A New Zealand zookeeper has been killed by a Sumatran tiger on a weekend morning that the zoo was open to visitors.
Police said they were called to the Hamilton Zoo at 11 a.m Sunday after reports a female zookeeper had been attacked by one of the zoo's five tigers. Police said the woman died at the scene.

 A three-day mourning period has been announced in the UAE after the son of Dubai's ruler died of a heart attack.
Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who graduated from Sandhurst in 2002, died on Saturday morning. 
The 33-year-old was the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the ruler of Dubai and also the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

Saraki, Ekweremadu, others shun court

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, as well as other Senate officials on Monday shunned a scheduled hearing in a suit seeking their removal from office.
The removal of Saraki and the other principal officers is being sought on the grounds of alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 used for the conduct of their elections shortly after the proclamation of the 8th Senate on June 9.
