Assets declaration: Saraki loses appeal, goes to S-Court

 

Legal dispute over the propriety of the13-count criminal charge pending against the Senate President, Dr. Olubukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, has shifted to the Supreme Court.
This was even as Justices of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, yesterday, disagreed on whether or not the charge which was preferred against Saraki by the Federal Ministry of Justice, ought to be quashed.

Cross River governor suspends permanent secretary over school prayer ban

 

The Cross River Government has suspended indefinitely, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Anne Odey, for “flouting civil service rules”, amid a controversy over ban of morning and afternoon prayer sessions in schools.

An explosion and a fire at a nightclub in the Romanian capital Bucharest during a Halloween rock concert has killed 27 people.

Government officials said that at least 88 people were also admitted to hospital after the blast at the Colectiv Club. It is believe 154 people are injured in total and that the death toll could continue to rise.

Transgender woman fears for her life as she is sent to a male prison

A 26-year old Tara Hudson was born a man but she underwent surgery in her early youth to transit to a woman and now it has backfired.

She has been sent to an all male prison – a prison holding around 600 young adult and adult men, after she admitted to assaulting someone at a bar on Boxing Day 2014. She changed her plea to guilty in September and her mum was expecting her to be put on an electronic tag and made to undergo an alcohol awareness course.
At worst she thought she would be sent to an all-women prison by the magistrates in Bath, Somerset.
But instead they ruled that Tara should serve her sentence inside a Category-B male prison (HMP Bristol) because her passport says she is still a man.

Police officer arrested for defiling 3- year-old girl

EBONYI State police command, weekend, arrested a police officer (name withheld) attached to Ugbodo Police Division in Ebonyi Local Government Area for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.
 Addressing newsmen at the command headquarters, the state police spokesperson, Mr. George Okafor, said the suspect lived in the same compound as the parents of the girl at Ugbodo.
According to Vanguard, reports also had it that the command also arrested one Paul Ulegu for alleged murder of his brother who accused him of stealing his chicken.
