Omaha fire department officials entered the rapper’s plane at approximately 3 p.m. local time, though the rapper initially refused any medical treatment. The plane then took off and subsequently made contact with officials saying that the rapper continued to have medical issues. According to KETV, the plane circled back and returned to the airport, where Carter was taken to the emergency room of CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center. The news was first reported by TMZ.
In 2012, Carter was hospitalized after suffering a seizure, forcing his private jet to make an emergency landing in Texas. "Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration,“ his rep said at the time. "He is at home on doctor-mandated rest and will return to work soon.” Five months later, the rapper suffered additional seizures while on the set of a music video and was hospitalized overnight.
Two weeks later, he revealed that he had epilepsy. “I’m prone to seizures,” Wayne told Los Angeles radio station Power 106. “This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y'all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself."
The rapper is scheduled to appear with 2 Chainz at Kansas City, MO’s Sprint Center this Saturday, though it is unclear if the show will continue as scheduled.
