The Supreme Court has asked Ifedayo Abegunde, a member representing Akure South/North Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, to free his seat.
The reason for such move is Abegunde’s defection from the invalid Labour Party to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Abegunde was elected into office in 2011.

The seven-man panel on Friday, April 17, ruled by Mahmud Mohammad, Chief Justices of Nigeria, held that Abegunde’s defection couldn’t be defensible since his reason of “division” in the defunct Labour Party was not in existence at the party’s national structure.
Abegunde had jumped from the LP to former Action Congress of Nigeria party that has now transformed to the All Progressives Congress.
